ISLAMABAD:

Chief justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has constituted a special bench for the hearing of cases of alleged aiders in the Pervez Musharraf case. The special bench will take up the case today.

Earlier, Justice Athar Minallah had requested IHC chief justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi to constitute a special bench. The hearing of petitions was to challenge special court’s judgment directing the federal government to name more abettors in Musharraf’s treason case.

Musharraf’s law minister in 2007 Zahid Hamid, former CJ Abdul Hameed Dogar and former PM Shaukat Aziz had challenged the order.

Earlier, the federal government had told the court the November 21 order was ‘patently illegal’. The special court had no jurisdiction for including names of the co-accused.
