ISLAMABAD:

A man tried to slash his wrist with a blade at the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday, unaware of the fact that he was at the wrong place and would later be booked in a case for attempted murder.

Police officials and litigants caught Raja Bilal trying to kill himself and took him to a hospital. According to a letter found in his pocket, Bilal was disheartened after two of his brothers were denied bail in a case pending before the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench “for years”.

In the letter, Bilal alleged his brothers were in jail for the last two years “for an offence they never committed”. The letter said the family was starving, unable to afford house rent, and in debt. The letter said police and judiciary would be responsible for his death, which fortunately was averted.

The man who wanted his brothers freed found himself in jail after Ramna police registered an FIR against him for attempt to commit suicide.

Police said Bilal had come to IHC to file a bail application for his brothers but attempted suicide after he was told to go to LHC. He hailed from Kallar Syedan and his brothers are in Adiala Jail in a murder case.
