The suspected killer was identified as Aasna Bibi, 26, a resident of Kot Najeebullah, Haripur District.
On May 28, she allegedly killed Bilal Safdar, an airman in the Pakistan Air Force, said the police official. Aasna was arrested by the Margalla police from Rawalpindi following a tip from an informant.
Sources in the police department said both individuals were in a relationship for four years however, the girl was interested in getting married but the deceased was reportedly using delaying tactics on the issue.
According to the sources, in the start of 2015, Aasna put her foot down and pushed Safdar to get married as she did not want to continue with the status quo. Safdar reportedly refused and told her he plans to marry someone else, which disheartened Aasna who then planned to kill him.
On Friday, she called Safdar and asked for a meeting. Both decided the place of meeting and were going there together on Safdar’s motorcycle together when Aasna shot him dead with a single bullet to the head under a bridge in Sector G-9/4.
The police handed over the body to the deceased’s family after a postmortem was conducted at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Margalla SHO Muhammad Bashir confirmed that the girl has been arrested by investigation officer Shafqat Ahmed.
He said a murder case has been registered under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The officer said the girl is in police custody and police will obtain her physical remand from the courts. “Love can be a dangerous thing,” commented Bashir.
