Butt to reconcile with estranged wife?

While actor seems hopeful, Arshad denies any development lessening marital dispute

LAHORE: Humaira Arshad may have ruled out the possibility of reuniting with husband Ahmad Butt, but he seems to be looking forward to reconciliation. After the two went public, levelling allegations against each other amid the possibility of a split, Butt told The Express Tribune, “Family and close friends from both sides are making efforts for a patch-up.”

Citing how he wishes to resolve the impending issues for his son, he said, “I’m willing to withdraw my case and compromise just for the sake of our child’s future.” He added, “We briefed our elders about our differences and despite our differences, I want to be on good terms with Humaira because I can’t see my child suffering.”

The actor said he’s hopeful that things will fall back into place. “I haven’t seen Humaira since the press conference … didn’t even meet her … but I’m hopeful that friends, who want to see us united again, will play their role and will be successful.” He went on to say, “Although I appeared in court with regard to our case, I feel this will all end well and we’ll start a new life together. Soon, I’ll give good news to you all because I can see that things moving in a positive direction.”

But Arshad doesn’t seem as hopeful as her estranged partner. Denying Butt’s claims, the singer said, “I don’t feel we will reunite as no such development has taken place yet. It’s true that some elders are making their efforts for a possible reunion, but nothing has materialized so far.” She added, “I can’t disclose or make any comment on whether I want to continue with this relationship, as I’ve left it to my elders. They will decide it.”

While Butt had accused Arshad of property fraud, among other thing, Arshad alleged Butt used to beat her up in public. She also disclosed that she had been running domestic affairs all by herself, being the sole breadwinner of the family, adding that Butt used to take money from her instead of extending financial support to her and her son.

Real | 9 years ago | Reply He doesn't want to reconcile for the sake of his son. He just wants to reconcile because the flow of money has stopped. Butt earns nothing because he falls in the category of [uncle] models. Humaira earns bread and butter for home. She is the man of the home. A salute to her for being resilient and taking a stand against a cheap hypocrite man, who lives on the support of his wife. Humaira is a dignified woman. She tried to save the sinking ship for years and years but Butt's flirtatious attitude and extravagant spending habits [Humaira's earnings] forced her to do so. Humaira, since you have stood against the wrongful, don't back out now. Your son will get good nurturing under your protection don't give it to that nonsense man. A one time lux style award winner with only one success [Salakhen] to his account. A total failure man! With no determination and self-respect! Surviving by appearances in morning shows only.
