Toys, not bombs: Seven minors injured in hand grenade explosion

A hand grenade explosion left seven children injured on Wednesday in Tank, a police official told The Express Tribune.


The incident occurred in Sheikh Owthar village situated about 25 kilometres west of Tank near DI Khan.


One of the children found the hand grenade in a nearby water channel, the official added. The child and his friends started playing with it when the device exploded.


The injured were identified as Fanoos Khan, Kashif, Mudasar, Wajid, Muhammad Saqib, and two girls: Safina Bibi and Halfa Bibi.


The ages of the children ranged between three to eight years, the police official added.


The injured children were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital Tank where they were said to be in stable condition.


A similar incident occurred about two weeks ago in Lakki Marwat when a teenaged boy was injured after he opened a flask, which contained a bomb. Abdullah found it while on his way for a swim in Kurram River.
