Climbing the ladder: Over 300 Kurram Levies personnel promoted

PA lauds their efforts for tackling militancy, restoring peace

PARACHINAR: At least 360 Kurram Levies personnel have been promoted for their services in the war against terrorism and the restoration of peace.

Amjad Ali Khan, political agent of Kurram Agency, presented badges and stars to the personnel of Kurram Levies in a simple yet impressive ceremony at Parachinar on Tuesday.

Two subedars were promoted to the rank of subedar major, 12 naib subedars were promoted to the rank of subedar, 14 naiks were made naib subedars, 76 naiks were promoted to the post of lance naik, among others.

Khan appreciated the Kurram Levies force and felt content with its efforts to restore peace in the region. He said the force now comprises 1,800 personnel, and is capable of tackling all situations in accordance with tribal customs and government’s law.

He especially appreciated the role played by personnel of Kurram Levies in foiling a suicide attack on footballers in Alizai recently. Officials of the force helped save lives of around 100 people and scores of players present in the playground of Government High School Alizai at the time of the attack, he remarked, adding the force must stay alert and keep working hard as terror threats remain in the area.
