The Health Department was on Monday given 10 days to respond to a petition seeking directives for it to ensure availability of treatment facilities for kidney disease at public hospitals in the province. Farooq Badar said except for Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, no public health facility in the province had nephrologists among their medical staff. He said number of people suffering kidney diseases had increased rapidly in the recent years. However, he said, the government had failed to ensure proper treatment facilities at public health facilities.
