Police have arrested four clerics for violating the Amplifier Act during Friday prayers in Dina, Jhelum District. The suspects were identified as Zafar Iqbal, Muhammad Adeel, Muhammad Nazakat and Rehmatullah.
They were produced before a local magistrate who imposed a fine of Rs25,000 each on the suspects. The Punjab Sound System (Regulation) Ordinance 2015 allows use of only one speaker for the Azaan (call to prayer) and for the Friday sermon in Arabic only.
