Tragic loss: Stray bullet claims toddler’s life

ISLAMABAD: One-year-old Simon Masih lost his life in his mother’s arms on Sunday evening when a stray bullet hit him in the head during an evening walk in a park near his house.

Masih was shot and killed when unidentified men opened fire on a security guard of a private housing society and one of the bullets left him dead, said a police official.

The incident took place when Ameer Abdullah, the security guard of the private housing society, refused to let enter some unidentified men which led to a firing incident in which the guard and one-year-old lost his life, said a police.

Muhammad Akbar, the investigation officer of the case, said the boy was in his mother’s arms who was walking in the park. The officer said the deceased’s mother was also injured who was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) where her condition is said to be stable.

The police registered an FIR under Section 302 (murder) however, the culprits are still a large. The officer claimed that the police are trying to search for them.

Body found

In a separate incident, an unidentified body of a girl was found in the jurisdiction of the Noon Police Station.  A police official said the body was found in a stream near Sector I-14 and it is suspected that someone threw the woman’s body before killing her. The body was shifted to Pims and further investigation is under way.
