Encounter: Three ‘militants’ gunned down

Three suspected militants were killed during an alleged overnight encounter with the police and Rangers on the outskirts of the city. Police and Rangers officials claimed that the encounter took place when they conducted a joint raid in Surjani after receiving information about a hideout of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militants. The police said that the suspects opened fire on them in an attempt to escape but, in the resulting exchange of fire, two of them were killed while some of their accomplices fled. SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai added that the law enforcers chased the fleeing militants and killed another suspect. The bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue where they were identified as Akhtar, Naveed and Hidayatullah.
