At least four people were injured in a grenade blast inside a mosque in Shabqadar on Friday night.
A police official who did not want to be named told The Express Tribune police went to arrest a suspect identified as Qari Naeem in Syed Wali Colony. However, Naeem ran inside a mosque and blew himself up with a hand grenade.
The Isha prayers had ended but still few people were present in the mosque. “Four people praying in the hall were hurt in the blast,” the official said.
The injured were rushed to hospital where doctors stated their condition to be out of danger.
The injured were identified as Fazal Raheem, Ihsan Shah, Subhan Ullah, and Saif Ullah.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness told The Express Tribune by phone that after seconds after the blast, three cars with men brandishing automatic weapons were seen fleeing the scene. Police have not registered a case so far.
