LAHORE: The people of this country want to see Imran Khan as the next prime minister to resolve their problems, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Muhammad Sarwar said on Thursday.
He was addressing a ceremony held at the Aiwan-i-Iqbal to award certificates to PTI workers who participated in the long march, sit-in and the Lahore shut down call.
“The participation of workers in the protests shows that they support the party’s leadership,” he said.
Sarwar said that the people of Lahore would be out on the streets once the result of the NA-122 election inquiry was announced. “That protest will prove to be the final innings. The PTI will adopt all measures to end the darkness of oppression,” he said.
PTI Lahore president Abdul Aleem Khan announced the setting up of a Rs1 million fund for party workers. “It is a matter of pride that our dedicated workers participated in a 126-day long sit-in,” he said.
Prayers were offered for party workers, Khadim Hussain and Muhammad Shahid, who lost their lives during the sit-in.
Separately, PTI information secretary Shireen Mazari addressed a training workshop at Lahore Press Club.
“The Kashmir dispute cannot be resolved through conflict. Pakistan has never had a clear position on the Kashmir issue. It is time that it does.”
