This is the second time a Taliban delegation is visiting Iran on the invitation of the Iranian government. The last time Taliban leaders had visited Tehran was in June 2013.
“I can confirm that the Taliban leaders from the political office of Qatar are currently in Iran,” the Taliban official said adding that during the visit the political and regional issues as well as the plight of the Afghan refugees in Iran would come under discussion.

The official further revealed that the recent visit to Tehran was part of its campaign to establish contacts with foreign countries, adding that the Taliban negotiators would now routinely visit various countries.
Taliban negotiators are scheduled to hold another round of talks with Chinese officials shortly, the sources told The Express Tribune. They have already held two rounds of talks in Beijing and Pakistan.
