PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s trade with landlocked Afghanistan can be increased substantially if obstacles on both sides are reduced or removed. This was discussed at a meeting of the Post Afghanistan Visit Review Committee, stated a press release issued on Friday. The meeting was led by the committee’s chairman Senator Mohsin Aziz who is also the vice chairman of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade. The meeting agreed that the need of the hour was to remove all forms of impediments and hurdles in bilateral trade that include “irrational tariff” and illegal trade. The participants recommended a number of solutions for problems faced by importers and exporters of both countries. They added untimely clearance of goods consignments, registration of goods documents, lack of required facilities and limited banking networks were among the major issues affecting trade.
