MUZAFFARGARH:

Some 40 people were hospitalised after drinking lassi at Panjay Wali village on Thursday.

A Muzaffargarh police spokesman said Muhammad Ramazan, a landlord, had been arrested for serving them substandard lassi.

He said Ramzan had a stall near his farm, where lassi was offered to workers free of cost. He said there had been no prior incident like this.

He said on Thursday, people started vomiting and some of them fainted after drinking the lassi.

They were all rushed to a hospital by Rescue 1122. Health EDO Athar Iqbal declared emergency and summoned more doctors.

Acting Medical Superintendent Mahr Iqbal later told newsmen that the patients were in a stable condition but would be kept overnight for observation. He said the case was being investigated and action would.
