A consumer court on Wednesday awarded damages to a petitioner, who had filed a complaint against a catering company.
Maj (retd) Khalid Waheed Butt had filed a case against proprietor of AJ Events/Studios, for providing unsatisfactory services at the wedding of his daughter.
Butt said he had hired the services of Ali Jamal, the manager of AJ Events /Studios, for providing dinner to 150 people and arranging photography for Mehndi and the wedding reception. “The food and catering services were not up to the mark.”
He said the respondent had promised to provide the video/album of the events. “I had paid him Rs50,000 in advance. However, this was not done,” he said.
The court has now directed the respondent to refund Rs50,000 of the original amount, pay Rs20,000 counsel’s fee and Rs5,000 damages.
