PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan nullified the transfer of 1,109 voters from one block to another and redirected them to Akhunabad union council for local government elections. Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan Sardar Muhammad Raza and commission members Justice (retd) Riaz Kiyani, Justice (retd) Shehzad Akbar and Justice (retd) Fazal Rehman passed the verdict while hearing a petition at Peshawar High Court on Tuesday. The petitioner, district council candidate Allahdad Khan, told the bench irregularities have been found in the latest K-P voters’ list issued by the federal institution. He said as many as 1,109 voters were transferred from Akhunabad UC to Hazar Khwani UC in violation of law. Khan said those affected by this change are permanent residents of Akhunabad and have been living there for years. He said the transfer may affect the outcome of polls in the 26th UC of Peshawar.
