A man was arrested on Monday for allegedly raping his niece in Pir Mehal police area.
A maternal uncle of the girl, told The Express Tribune that his 16-year-old niece Saba* was alone at home when a paternal uncle, Ramazan, overpowered her and assaulted her.
He said the man fled after raping her.
Pir Mehal SHO said police had registered a case under Section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and started investigation.
He said a team was formed to arrest Ramazan. He said the man was arrested from the locality a few hours later.
The SHO said the girl had been taken to a hospital for a medical examination. He said further action would be taken on receipt of the medico-legal report.
