“Heavily armed men lurking in the mountains overlooking the road opened fire on the convoy of Langove,” Ghulam Mohiuddin, an official of the Balochistan Levies, told The Express Tribune. However, the adviser remained unhurt and was driven to his home safely, he added.
“One of the Balochistan Levies vehicles was caught in the firing but local tribal elders intervened and escorted it to safety,” Moiuddin said.
The chief minister’s spokesperson, Jan Buledi, denounced the attack on Mir Khalid Langove, who is also a leader of the ruling National Party, and vowed that the attackers would be brought to book.
Interestingly, Assistant Commissioner Sultan Bugti said it was not an assassination attempt on Langove. His political rivals fired gunshots in the air in protest and blocked the road that the convoy was using, he added.
