The spacious display area featured a wide variety of spring and summer outfits, with a theme of ‘transporting back to the 70s’. It included jumpsuits, dresses, tops, shrugs and pants as well as discounted blazers from the previous collections. Mostly, blacks and whites were seen at the store but the main highlights were the hot pink party dresses and coloured jumpsuits.
Claire Shields, spokesperson for Mango UAE, Lebanon and Pakistan, was also present at the launch event. She handles a total of six stores in all the three countries. “I’ve been working with Mango since the past 15 years. Probably the biggest challenge of my job is that I have too many clothes,” Claire said while joking.
Defying a common assumption, operations manager Mango, Danish Kareem, said, “People in Pakistan think that we showcase clothes from previous collections but that is not true. Our collections are uniform worldwide.”
His Excellency Javier Carbajosa Sanchez from Spain inaugurated the store. He mingled with guests and exchanged fashion trends, and cultural knowledge with locals. “Exchanges such as these build familiarity between countries and remind us that we are not very different from one another because of similar tastes,” he said.
“I am the top fourth client on their buying list and it is that one brand that truly satisfies me,” said Sidra Khan, one of the attendees.
The highlight of the event was an exciting dress competition for fashion bloggers, where participants were supposed to upload their pictures on Facebook in the brand’s outfits. The one with the most likes would win the outfit.
