Immigration issue: PCB chairman held up at Kolkata airport

PCB chief had visa for New Delhi, but instead of going there he flew from Dhaka and landed in Kolkata

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan was stopped at Kolkata airport and was not allowed to enter the city by the Indian authorities. According to Daily Express, the PCB chief had the visa for New Delhi, but instead of going there he flew from Dhaka and landed in Kolkata. The unofficial change in travel plan prompted the officials to stop him. However, after a word from higher authorities, the Indian immigration officials finally allowed Shaharyar Khan to leave the airport.

Shamima | 8 years ago | Reply Shaharyar Khan is the grandson of the Nawab of Bhopal and the Princess Abida Sultan who was offered the title of the Begum of Bhopal by Pandit Nehru when her father, the Nawab died in 1960. Both Mother and son decided to stay on on in Pakistan. The title went to another sister, the Begum of Pataudi. Her husband and son, the Nawab of Pataudi both captained the Indian cricket team. Shaharyar Khan is a former Foreign Secretary, former High Commissioner to the UK and the author of several books. He is a highly-respected figure both sides of the border.

If inspite of his foreign service carrier, he is unaware of than that, what can you expect from him to achieve in cricket, with all this dementia and old age problems.

Agree, we should respect immigration rules, regardless who we are, particularly in case of Indo-Pak borders. Mr Sheheryar will not probably fancy repeating this mistake but you never know !! I agree with all the commentators here that it must be too much on him to be still working at his age. He should be politely asked to retire.
