Graduation ceremony: Youth is an integral part of national growth, says naval chief

Bahria University’s 13th convocation held.

ISLAMABAD: The youth should work hard and become an integral part of the country’s growth. This was stated by Bahria University Pro-Chancellor and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah on Saturday was addressing the university’s 13th convocation.

The naval chief awarded medals and degrees to graduating students of masters and undergraduate programmes to acknowledge their outstanding academic performance.

Around 21 gold medals and 14 silver medals were awarded to high-achievers of various departments at the ceremony held at Jinnah Convention Centre.

In total, 560 degrees were conferred upon successful students of different departments including Software Engineering, Computer Sciences, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Earth and Environmental Sciences.

While congratulating and extending felicitations to all the degree recipients, Zakaullah said the global geo-political and economic environment has become highly complex and challenging due to which increasingly fierce and complex issues are confronting the world. He highlighted the role of youth as an integral part of national growth and prosperity and assured the students that through sheer hard work, honesty and dedication, they will achieve great heights.

Underlining the role of universities and institutions in imparting education and fostering professional competence in students, he appreciated Bahria University’s contribution and said the university is not only producing graduates in varying academic disciplines but is also at the forefront in conceiving and implementing initiatives and programmes with special focus on capacity-building of students.

Earlier in his welcome address, Rector Bahria University Vice Admiral (retd) Tanveer Faiz congratulated students and their parents, and wished them a prosperous future.  He advised students to maintain confidence and remain abreast with the latest developments in their respective professions to meet the challenges of practical life.

He said higher education has now become a tool of economic growth and universities have great responsibility of producing quality graduates who could contribute positively in various fields for the country’s economic growth.
