ISLAMABAD:

Federal Ombudsman has sought report from National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) and other concerned departments over a complaint on problems being faced by overseas Pakistanis in availing facilities for investment in the country.

In pursuance of the complaint, the Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis fixed the hearing of complaint to May 14, directing all concerned authorities to appear before him.

As per the documents available with the Express Investigation Cell, Danish Pakistan Affairs Council (DPAC)’s Denmark President Anser Manzoor Hussain filed a complaint email before Federal Ombudsman on April 4 stating that Pakistan Origin Card (POC) holders overseas Pakistanis are facing multiple problems trying to seek investment in the country.

Another serious problem to POC holders is that they are not recognised everywhere in all national departments and authorities like holders of National Identity Card are, he maintained.

Taking instant action, the Federal Ombudsman secretariat forwarded the application to the Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistani for redressal.
