
Phase I of a training programme for parent teacher council (PTC) members is under way in 12 districts of the province. Launched by the elementary and secondary education department, the programme will guide PTC members about fund management and increasing enrolment rates in schools.
According to statistics provided by the department, so far over 0.2 million members from 29,000 schools of K-P have been trained. The training, which is being conducted in batches, started on April 27 in Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Battagram, Torghar, Haripur, Malakand, Lower Dir, Buner, Kohat and Lakki Marwat. The programme is being arranged with support from the Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP).
Talking to The Express Tribune, SRSP district manager Mamoon Rashid said 9,864 PTC members from Charsadda’s 1,233 government schools have been trained.
