Drug bust: 200kg hashish, 1kg heroin seized

Police seize huge cache of narcotics and arrest three members of an interprovincial gang.

WAH CANTT: The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) in two different operations seized a huge cache of narcotics and arrested three members of an interprovincial gang from Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1) on Thursday.

NHMP Spokesman, Patrolling Officer Umair Shoaib Ejaz, while briefing the media at Sector Office Hassanabdal, said that police, acting on a tip off, stopped a vehicle bearing number JU-853 and during search, recovered 200 kilogram hashish from hidden compartments in the vehicle.

Police apprehended the driver, identified as Abdul Raheem, resident of Mardan, and registered a case against him for further investigation.

In another incident, Police foiled a bid to smuggle one kilogram of heroin from Peshawar to Punjab and impounded the car bearing number 5352, besides arresting two men, Shafqat Khan and Mohammad Arif, both residents of Lahore.

NHMP have handed over the accused to local police for further action.
