Evening the odds: Army provides training to Sindh policemen

The army is training Sindh policemen to effectively combat terrorism.

SUKKUR: The Pakistan Army is training other law enforcement personnel to fight terrorism in an effective way, said the acting Pano Aqil cantonment General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brigadier Shafqatullah, while addressing a ceremony held to mark the completion of the training programme on Saturday.

A total of 68 policemen of the Sindh police belonging to Sukkur and Larkana have been provided training, from March 24 to May 2, to combat terrorism. Shafqatullah said the army is busy combating terrorism in order to preserve the pride and solidarity of the nation. Pakistan is going through a very critical phase, due to which various institutions of the country, including the army, are facing challenges, he said. The army is training the Sindh police to make them capable of foiling the heinous designs of anti-state elements, stated Shafqatullah.

According to him, this training is aimed at equipping the police force with the knowledge of how to use sophisticated weapons and how to safeguard the lives and properties of the people, while also rooting out terrorism from the country.

The GOC distributed certificates and medals among the policemen for their meritorious performance. The commissioners of Sukkur and Larkana and a large number of army and police officers attended the ceremony.
