
An independent candidate for general councillor seat was gunned down in Allai tehsil of Battagram district on Saturday. According to police, 29-year-old Sher Muhammad was shot dead by unidentified assailants.
Sarwar Khan, his father, a resident of Beetao Cheeran village, told the police Sher Muhammad had filed nomination papers for general councillor seat from Ajmehra union council. Khan added that his son received a phone call five days before his death and the caller asked him to visit the returning officer (RO) for clearance of his nomination papers.
According to Khan, Sher Muhammad left for the tehsil headquarters on Friday but did not return home. His bullet-riddled body was found from a nearby forest on Friday evening. According to Khan, the family has no enmity with anyone.
