Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Friday lashed out against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, saying “conspirators like Imran Khan” could not create a rift between the government and armed forces as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was fully aware of his responsibilities.
The minister, in a statement, said the PTI chairman should know that videos containing his views about army generals were available on social media, while it was the government’s patriotism that those have not been telecast.
If Imran Khan does not mend his ways, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would have to expose his real face, he added.
Earlier on Friday, Imran criticised the Nawaz government over its silence on MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s controversial speech against the army.
Deploring government’s silence on Altaf Hussain’s comments as inexplicable, he said it was government’s responsibility to defend the national security institutions.
In response, Pervaiz Rashid said that Pakistan and its national institutions did not need the services of Imran Khan as their spokesman.
“The prime minister knew his national responsibilities while the PTI chief was unaware of his,” he said.
“The people still remember that Imran used to take out rallies in favour of terrorists in the recent past ignoring unprecedented sacrifices of the armed forces.” He never spoke a word of appreciation for the personnel who laid their lives for the country, Rashid alleged.
