PESHAWAR:

A cultural festival was held on Friday to bring some cheer to the people from violence-plagued K-P and the tribal areas.

The event was organised by the South Asia Partnership Pakistan (SAP-Pk) at a local hotel in the city. People from different walks of life, including politicians, academics, social activists and students attended the event. Different stalls showcasing handicrafts, antique jewellery, local dresses, dry fruits and other items from Mohmand and Kurram Agencies as well as Lower and Upper Dir were on display.

Speakers said such colourful events in Peshawar, where criminal acts remain rampant, would give people much-needed relief and allow them to smile again. They encouraged organisations to arrange more such events in the future.

SAP Regional Program Coordinators Allah Noor Afridi and Naeem Khattak said it was imperative to encourage people to involve them in positive cultural and political events.
