KARACHI:
A suspect allegedly involved in the Shershah scrap market tragedy was killed by the police during an encounter in Mochko on Wednesday. Police officials claimed that Tahir alias Dada was killed when police personnel intercepted four men on two motorcycles at Salar Goth. According to SHO Nawaz Gondal, the culprits opened fire at the police, upon which the police retaliated and killed one of them while the others fled. The deceased allegedly belonged to the Jabbar Jhengu gang of Lyari’s Uzair Baloch group. Gondal added that Tahir was one of the key suspects in the Shershah scrap market tragedy of October 19, 2010, in which 14 people were killed when gang members opened fire at shopkeepers over their refusal to pay extortion.
