Army sets up field hospital in quake-hit Nepal

ISPR releases pictures of military doctors treating the injured

Pakistan Army established a field hospital in Bakhtapur area of Nepal after a devastating earthquake claimed more than 5,000 lives in the country.

“Pakistan Army Field Hospital has been established at Bakhtapur, the most affected area due to earthquake in Khatmandu, Nepal,” the Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement.

Pictures of military doctors treating the injured were also released.

On Tuesday, army search teams started rescue operations in Bakhtapur and Kathmandu.

The Army sent two more C-130 aircrafts on Tuesday carrying a second consignment of relief goods for earthquake hit areas of Nepal from Noor Khan Airbase.

In addition to relief goods, doctors and paramedics and special engineering equipment were also transported to the earthquake-hit region.

Further, 59 Pakistanis were evacuated. Earlier on Sunday, a C-130 plane carrying 39 Pakistanis from Kathmandu arrived at the Noor Khan Airbase in Islamabad.

The army and government had earlier dispatched medical teams comprising doctors and paramedics along with relief goods to Nepal.

“In line with the prime minister’s directive, two Pakistani C-130 aircraft landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu Sunday morning,” a statement issued by the Foreign Office said on Sunday.

The planes were carrying medical team of doctors and paramedics, 30-bed hospital, medicines, tents, water, dry food, search and rescue team with equipment, the statement noted.

The earthquake in Nepal has caused massive devastation of life and property, and resulted in the deaths of more than 5,000 people with more feared caught up in the debris.

Amused, but not surprised, by the Indian trolls, who spend the better part of their obsessed lives, stalking Pakistani sites, simply to malign Pakistan, any and every way they can. Tut! tut! What a sad life to lead, full of hatred for a country who managed to get its freedom from India! yawn carry on! Oh, and what do we have here? Maybe you obsessed Indians should worry about your own country's role, rather than pointing your dirty fingers elsewhere!

Pakistani | 8 years ago | Reply @Suresh: Did you see any 'beef' in the food items sent by Pakistan for the earthquake affected victims of Nepal? Just ready @Pity comments above and you will understand the reason why the flag has been hoisted. Ask India to send some relief items to Nepal as well.

Suresh | 8 years ago | Reply @Pakistani: The logic is, if you want to be respected, respect others. Treat the world same way you want to be treated. If pork is no to Pakistan, beef is no to Nepal. If you do not want to see American or Indian flag hoisted in Pakistan, do not hoist Pakistani flag at devastation site in other country which is in mourning.

Suresh | 8 years ago | Reply It is good sign Pakistanis themselves red flagging the flag hoisting issue. It diminishes other wise a noble gesture. Pakistan is also facing at another diplomatic row since it has sent beef as relief material to a Hindu state where beef is banned. Whenever Pakistan sends relief materiel to India, the Pakistani plane is painted with Indian flag upside down. All these can not be blamed on ignorance of lower rung people.Pakistan which is always serious about treatment it receives from international community, can not resort to such major diplomatic faux pas

If yes, then you must be aware that at a time when everything has become destroyed and with no medical help available to people, simple stitches and medicines like paracetamol can help save lives but no keep on considering this as a PR exercise. Suits your mindset.

Pity | 8 years ago | Reply @Faisal @Talking Point @James To all fellow commentators, the flag has been hoisted to indicate that Pakistan Army is carrying out relief effort in this particular area. The Pakistani ambassador has said that in order to ensure organized relief efforts, Nepal Govt has assigned areas to medical units which have arrived from various countries and Pakistan Army has been assigned the Bhaktapur area. It is sad that instead of praying for people of Nepal, commentators here are more focused on one flag. I mean really? Lets pray that all victims of the earthquake get medical treatment on time so that more lives can be saved.

Given the first opportunity ,all these Pak army units know one thing - plant the green flag without relevance or reverence to the host suffering country . Clearly an exercise in PR as another commentator pointed out .

faisal | 8 years ago | Reply The army field hospitals are generally a waste of money. They only do minor OT work like stitches etc. And they give simple medicines like paracetamol. They aren't much use unfortunately and are a PR exercise only.
