News of Salman's arrival in the valley spread like wildfire as he reached Pahalgam. A 75-year-old widow took the opportunity and approached the actor during his shoot asking for help.
Zaina Begum, whose 40-year-old daughter is also a widow, was struggling to raise her four grandchildren after they moved in with her following the death of their father. The striving family survived on alms during festivals.
Having listened to the helpless woman for hours, Salman offered a helping hand. He asked her eldest grandson to work on the sets of his film till it ends, after which he offered to take him along to Mumbai so he can find him work there. A source was quoted saying, "Salman assured him that his family would never have to ask for anything again.”
The grandson, Gowhar, was left speechless after Salman's kind gesture."Upar Khuda hai, neeche Salman Khan," said the 18-year-old.
This kindness by the Bollywood superstar has turned the fortunes of this impecunious family and moved the lady who described him as "a saviour, a messiah".
The Bollywood star was joined by his baby sister in Kashmir during the shoot who happily tweeted pictures of the duo:
