A total of 280 students graduated this year with degrees in various disciplines of bachelors, masters and MPhil at their new campus at Raiwind Road. The convocation was highlighted with a motivational speech by the chief guest Dr Javaid R Leghari, the Higher Education Commission chairman.
Dr Leghari, in his speech, mentioned the important features of career and education. “I wish to triple the number of students among all universities of Lahore and to increase the accessibility to higher education which is currently only 5 per cent.” He addressed the fresh graduates in his a way which most of the students found to be ‘entertaining.’
VC Aziz, while delivering his address, said that the number of graduating students has doubled since the last year.
Among the prominent students, the brightest light shone upon Ishba Khan, a wife and a mother, who secured a gold medalist with the CGPA of 3.86. Khan was crowned the valedictorian at the convocation.
Parents and students said that BNU had provided its students with career opportunities during their final years.
Salima Hashmi, the School of Visual Arts and Design dean, also congratulated the graduating students.
She said, “We are proud of all our students and we are sure that all of them will play their roles for the betterment of the country.”
