Dr Zafar Iqbal was elected president of the ASA with 219 votes while his rival Dr Inamul Haq Ghazi won 160 votes. For the seat of vice president (female), Dr Nyla Jabeen won 220 votes against her rival Dr Noor Fatima’s 156; for vice president (male), Dr Muhammad Akram polled 229 against his rival Dr Saif Abbasi’s 151).
Dr Hasnain Abbas Naqvi was elected general secretary with 212 votes. His competitor Dr Islamuddin polled 170 votes.
Dr Fozia Janjua was elected joint secretary (female), Attaullah Wattoo joint secretary (male), Haseeb Sajjad secretary finance, and Nizar Ali Khan was elected secretary information.
Dr Zafar thanked the staff for voting for him and said he would continue to work for the welfare of teachers.
