Days after director's murder, T2f closes shop 'until further notice'

Earlier on April 25, the café had cancelled all scheduled events

KARACHI: Days after its founder and director Sabeen Mahmud was shot dead, The Second Floor (T2F) café announced that it was shutting down.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday evening, the café thanked everyone for their continued support, before adding that it was closing till further notice.



The announcement comes hours before the cafe was set to reopen on Wednesday, April 29.



Earlier on April 25, the café had cancelled all scheduled events at the premises.



Sabeen, the director and founder of T2F was shot dead by gunmen in an upscale neighbourhood of the metropolis on April 24.

Sabeen, along with her mother, was returning home from T2F in Defence Phase-II Extension when her car was attacked near the Defence Central Library traffic signal.

Hours earlier, she had hosted a seminar on the troubled province of Balochistan, featuring Mama Qadeer, the chairperson of Voice for Missing Baloch. This was a similar session to the one that had been cancelled by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) a few weeks ago.

Last year, Sabeen had organised a crowd-funding drive to keep the cafe's doors open.

For sure, Sabeen would be very happy to see her Seedling being nurtured and made bigger by you; lets aim to re-open T2F ASAP, and continue to the Good work as was been done earlier.
