SUKKUR:

The Sukkur railway police on Monday registered an FIR against four persons for attacking a police constable at Ghotki railway station on Sunday night.

Constable Abdul Aziz Mahar was on duty at the Ghotki railway station when he spotted a young man riding a motorcycle on the platform. He asked the man to stop because a train was scheduled to pass through the station but the man refused. He and his three accomplices attacked and injured the constable before escaping.

Following the incident, railway employees halted a train at the station to protest the policeman's maltreatment. Taking notice of the attack, the Sukkur Railway SP ordered the railway police to register an FIR against the culprits and arrest them.

The police have booked four persons, namely Babar Shah, his father Allah Wadhayo Shah, Asif Ali Shah and Ghotki police station head constable Abdul Rehman Khoso. Allah Wadhayo Shah is reportedly a close aide of Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar. The police have yet to make arrests.
