“The Digital Youth Summit brings together a wide range of experts to discuss fast growing opportunities in the global virtual economy, such as freelancing and digital entrepreneurship,” a social development specialist at the World Bank, Anna O’Donnell, told The Express Tribune via email. “This is a very exciting time for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa as young people would be facilitated towards greater social and economic opportunities.”
A public expo will also be part of the event wherein visitors would be able to meet the innovators behind Pakistani start-ups. Free of cost workshop classes on coding, freelancing, developing applications as well as using social media for marketing will also be conducted. The summit will provide a platform to educate the public about innovations in technology and alternatives to traditional jobs for online social entrepreneurs.
“Digital Youth Summit brings an unprecedented learning, networking and business opportunity to students and business founders in K-P,” said the CEO and co-founder of Peshawar 2.0, Dr Faisal Khan. “At the same time it is helping us break the stereotypes we hear about Peshawar.”
Dr Khan added he expects the three-day event to rebuild and rebrand Peshawar as the most hospitable city for start-ups.
