LAHORE:

The city police have decided to establish two hospitals for police officials and their families, The Express Tribune has learnt.

Operations DIG Dr Haider Ashraf says requests have been sent to the Lahore Development Authority and the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) for allotment of land for the purpose. “Construction work will begin as soon as land is available,” he says.

He says the hospitals will have facilities to provide first aid to cops who suffer injuries during work. He says with the establishment of the hospitals monthly medical examination will be made mandatory for all officials serving in the city police. He says services of surgeons and specialists in various medical faculties will be hired for the hospitals.

He said the city police have also decided to set up special counters at public hospitals to facilitate police officials visiting these facilities. Officials in charge of the counter will be responsible for ensuring that police personnel visiting public hospitals get quick service.

Investigation DIG Rana Ayyaz Saleem says the decision will help improve the morale of the city’s police force.

Police officials appreciated the decision.
