FAISALABAD:

Hundreds of residents of Jhang on Sunday staged a protest against unannounced power load shedding in their localities.

The protesters chanted slogans against the government and urged the chief minister to take notice of the situation. Talib Hussain, a protester, told newsmen that there had been no power at his house for two days. “It comes and goes and we cannot plan for anything.” He said it was getting difficult arranging water. “The temperatures are getting warmer. We cannot sleep in comfort because there is no power.” He said houses in his neighbourhood were shrouded in darkness for hours on end. The protesters chanted slogans against the FESCO and demanded immediate restoration of electricity to their neighbourhoods. A team from Jhang police station met the protesters and assured them that their issue would be taken up by senior officials and resolved amicably. The protesters dispersed on this assurance.
