BAHAWALPUR: Thieves stole five electricity transformers from Ahmadpur East late on Friday.

Police said the transformers were stolen from various locations and the thieves had a crane at their disposal.

“They stole two transformers from Ameer Hamza Town near Motorway Road. Another was stolen near United College. They also stole transformers installed at Malik Razzaq and Haji Shahzad’s tube-wells,” police said. MEPCO Executive Engineer Zafar Abbasi said that the two transformers in Ameer Hamza Town were stolen because they had not been welded to the electricity poles.
