While condemning the killing of rights activist Sabeen Mahmud, Director General ISPR General Asim Bajwa said on Saturday that intelligence agencies would provide all assistance in the investigation of the murder.

“Intelligence agencies have been tasked to render all possible assistance to investigating agencies for the apprehension of perpetrators and bring them to justice,” Gen Bajwa tweeted.

Gen Bajwa also extended his sympathies and condolences to Mahmud’s family.

Mahmud was shot dead late Friday evening as she was on her way home after hosting a seminar on the troubled region of Balochistan at her cafe The Second Floor, t2F.

The session, ‘Unsilencing Balochistan (Take 2)’, featured the chairperson of Voice for Missing Baloch Persons (VBMP), Mama Qadeer. This was the same session which was due to be held at LUMS a few weeks ago, but was cancelled at the last minute.

    Good, the leftists are already spreading conspiracy theories of the establishment killing her, without any shred of evidence and without even analyzing who actually benefits from her murder, only the gullible would believe that BLA/BRA don’t have hitmen in Karachi.

    Numerous Baloch Sardars and even separatists own mansions in DHA and Clifton Karachi, they need to be investigated since they have their own militias.Recommend

    This is a heinous crime as it any murder. Will intelligence agencies take same interest in other murders of innocent people that takes place on a daily basis in our city of Karachi and elsewhere in the country?Recommend

    Sabeen Mahmood was so much talented and dedicated person that her death is nothing short of our colossal national loss and it can not be just loss for the family alone. I pray for lives in paradise, aameen. It is heartening to read that Maj Gen Bajwa has taken upon himself to bring to arrest the murderer and I thank him fir the same and wish he succeeds though our past experience on this account is quite shadowy and blur. I completely agree with you that each murder should be throughly investigated and bring justice to the victim. Sabeen’s murder is different because it’s committed without any personal enmity.
    And, my involve people who are state’s enemy.Recommend

    One should not underestimate the “marketing value” of this sad incidence, Sabeen Mehmood was a respected intellectual her murder would bring tremendous attention to the Mama Qadeer interview. The motive is clearly not to stop Mama Qadeer interview for that the attackers should have acted before interview not after, but to give that interview a huge audience can be a candidate for investigation. Interview is already completed and now will be in demand from many networks, home and abroad, The sad thing is a good person was targeted to achieve goals.Recommend

    @woody:
    Your response is what exactly was the objective of this tragedy, who ever killed Sabeen was not against the interview, in that case they would have killed her or Mama Qadeer before the interview, killing after the interview clearly indicates designs of terrorists to attract larger audience. I suggest investigator must look into links who arranged or suggested to her the interview.Recommend

    Intelligence agencies are one of the suspects. It is not a good idea to let the manipulate the investigation. Lets accept the fact, in Pakistan value of human life is zero, unless the victims are the students of The Army Public School. I know this is harsh, but true.Recommend
