Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first in a match where they were trying to save face by avoiding a defeat in the third and last ODI.
Newly sworn in ODI captain Azhar Ali (101) and debutante Sami (45) Aslam gave Pakistan a solid start. Sami was caught behind on a Nasir Hossain ball.
