International Earth Day being observed today

More than one billion people participate in Earth Day campaigns every year

First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is being observed in more than 192 countries today. 

Celebrated every year, organisations around the world observe the day to build support for environmental protection around the world.

Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahid Ullah Khan said global warming is the biggest risk to the sustainability of the life and the intricate ecosystem on earth, according to Radio Pakistan.

The minister said global warming has made the occurrence of climate change rapid and weathers unpredictable.

He urged for the protection of existing forests and planting new ones for making Earth a sustainable place to live in.

More than one billion people participate in Earth Day campaigns every year and it is the largest civic event in the world, celebrated simultaneously around the globe by people of all nationalities, faiths and backgrounds.

In observance of Earth Day, Google also changed its home page.
