Okara district police have registered 213 cases over violations of the Amplifier and Sound System Regulation Ordinance of 2015 since January. More than 200 prayer leaders were arrested and more than 1,700 loudspeakers seized in these cases, District Police Officer Rana Faisal said.
He said 46 cases were registered against violators of Temporary Residence Ordinance of 2015 and 150 against people suspected to be involved in distribution of hate material and wall chalking. He said 310 cases were registered in the city over possession of unlicensed arms. He said 15 Kalashnikovs, 25 other rifles, 45 shotguns, 10 revolvers, 250 pistols, 100 carbines and 1,600 bullets were seized in the drive. The DPO said the police had registered 264 cases in an ongoing crackdown on use of narcotics. He said 46 kg hashish, one kg heroin, eight kg opium, 4,500 litres of moonshine, 37 bottles of imported liquor were seized in the drive.
