KARACHI:

The provincial government has decided to impose a three-day ban on pillion riding ahead of the NA-246 by-elections in the city. The decision, for which a notification was also issued on Monday, was taken in line with the security plan for the polls, scheduled for April 23. According to a police spokesperson, the ban was imposed following the recommendations made by Central zone police chief DIG Feroz Shah to ensure peaceful elections. The ban will come into effect on April 21 and will remain in force until the night of April 23. Sources privy to the matter said that the ban could be extended if necessary.
