Liaquat Jatoi takes rival group to court

KARACHI: A constitutional petition was filed by former federal minister and Sindh chief minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, stating that ever since the Pakistan Peoples Party came into power, his family has been made a target of political victimisation. The petitioners also include Jatoi’s son and former nazim, Dadu, Karim Ali Jatoi and his nephew Kabir Ali Khan Jatoi.

The petitioners through their counsel, Khawaja Naveed Ahmed, maintained that Sardar Chandio and Burhan Chandio, and his tribesmen, have encroached upon their land.

On Tuesday, they prayed the court to provide protection to them through the Rangers or independent police officers. The bench, comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Imam Bux Baloch, ordered pre-admission notices to Sardar Chandio, Burhan Chandio, the DIG Hyderabad, the DPO Dadu and SHOs of the Mehar and Nau Goth police stations for December 15, while ordering the maintenance of the status quo.
