PESHAWAR: A spokesman for the Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (TESCO) has asked the heads of various government departments in FATA and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) to clear their dues amounting to Rs672 million by December 31, 2010.

TESCO had Rs598.721 million in arrears against eleven major government departments in FATA and K-P by October 2010.

Out of the total, Rs21.869 million arrears are pending against the Cadet College Razmak, Rs 39.352 million against FATA D.C, Rs25.294 million against Garrison Engineers Army, Rs35.780 million against Militia Scouts, Rs21.182 million against Frontier Corps and Rs21.831 million against Political Agents in FATA.

Similarly, Rs28.683 million is outstanding against the Education Department, Rs55.325 million against the Health Department, Rs123.926 million against the Work & Services Department, Rs178.747 million against the Water Management and Rs46.732 million against Irrigation & Power in K-P. TESCO has issued notices to these departments to clear their dues in time as the financial position of the company is fragile and it does not have the capacity to bear the additional burden of arrears which would increase further if not paid in time.

The spokesman said that company would have no other option except to disconnect the power supply of these departments if they failed to deposit their dues by the deadline given. Chief Executive Officer TESCO, Engineer Pervez Khan Swati, has directed field formations to expedite the recovery from government departments and ensure the complete recovery by December 31 at the latest.
