The Sindh police on Saturday claimed that they have killed six alleged terrorists, including two close aides to Taliban chief Mullah Fazlullah, during a raid in the suburbs of the metropolis.
According to the police, a 300-strong contingent of law enforcers carried out a search operation in Madina Colony, Ghazi Goth and Saadi Town localities Saturday evening after they received intelligence information about the presence of militants in the areas.
The police were fired upon while carrying out a door to door search in Ghazi Goth, a police official claimed. “The police retaliated with full force and killed six militants after a gunfight that lasted for around half an hour,” he added.
SSP Rao Anwar said two of the slain militants have been identified as Ahmed and Surat. “Ahmed was a commander of the Fazlullah-led TTP while commander Surat was also a close aide to Fazlullah,” he claimed.
