A man convicted of murder fled from court after a sessions judge awarded him death penalty on Friday.  Prosecution had said Asif and his brother Shaukat Ali and accomplices Haq Nawaz, Shehzad, Sultan, Nadeem and Manzoor had shot Muhammad Nawaz dead in Chak 242-JB Jhok Kalra in 2011. On Friday, Chiniot Additional District and Sessions Judge Malik Munir Ahmad Joiya sentenced Asif to death after hearing witnesses and examining evidence. After his sentence, Asif fled the court. The judge sentenced Shaukat Ali to 25 years imprisonment. Haq Nawaz, Shehzad, Sultan, Nadeem and Manzoor were given the benefit of doubt and acquitted.
