Addressing a news conference at Charsadda Press Club on Thursday, Awami National Party leader Alamgir Khan Advocate and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl district ameer Hashim Khan shared details of the negotiations.
ANP, JUI-F and Pakistan Peoples Party, will field allied candidates in 35 union councils of the district. Alamgir said 14 seats will be left open for competition where the three parties will field their individual candidates and confirmed the allied parties will not join hands with Jamaat-e-Islami, Qaumi Watan Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
PPP has been given two district seats in Tangi and Shabqadar each, said Alamgir. The rest have been divided equally among ANP and JUI-F.
Hashim added the allies will contest tehsil and district council seats with their respective electoral symbols and extend support to each other in village and neighbourhood councils as well.
Swabi
Local office bearers of the alliance have devised a formula for seat adjustment and distributed 90% of Swabi’s LG seats for the polls. A meeting, chaired by the coalition’s Swabi president Sheheryar Khan, was held on Thursday.
Participants underscored the need for effective campaigning and urged workers to remain vigilant of the provincial government’s “rigging plans”. An agreement could not be reached upon the remaining 10% seats but, they said, the remaining 10% will be decided upon mutually.
